About this Event
As part of National Hate Crime Awareness Week from 10-17 October 2026, the Tower Hamlets LGBTQ+ Community Forum are leading a Peace Walk in the borough to bring together communities and organisations representing those who experience hate crime and our allies.
The theme for this year's National Hate Crime Awareness Week is in solidarity with those who experience Race Hate Crime directed at Asylum Seeker and Refugee communities.
This year we are joined by Ice & Fire Theatre Company and Actors for Human Rights, who will be performing verbatim testimonies of people who have been in the asylum process.
Come along and show your solidarity!
When: Wednesday 14 October 2026
Time: 2.00 – 5pm
Where: Meeting at Shaheed Minar Memorial in Altab Ali Park and walking to Brady Arts & Community Centre's Side Hall.
2.15pm: Walk Route
Please note: The walk will be on the pavement.
We will set off at 2.15pm and walk along Brick Lane to Brady Arts & Community Centre, Hanbury St, E1 5HU.
2.45pm: Event at Brady Arts & Community Centre
- Speeches from representatives of peace supporting organisations
- Actors For Human Rights / Ice & Fire Theatre Company's performance
- Q&A
- Creative workshops on mapping the asylum process and tackling hate crime in Tower Hamlets
- Networking & Refreshments.

Access Information:
The walk will be about 30 minutes. There are many obstacles and pedestrian traffic on Brick Lane and, as such, we cannot guarantee the route is fully wheelchair accessible. Brady Arts & Community Centre is fully wheelchair accessible and if you wish to meet us at the venue at 2:45pm you are welcome to.
