About this Event
What should the future of parks and nature look like in the greater Portland region?
Join Metro Council President Juan Carlos Gonzalez and your Intertwine Alliance community for Parks & Nature Lab 2.0, an interactive evening of learning and discussion. Help shape Metro’s Parks and Nature levy renewal planned for 2027, and inform a broader look at needs and opportunities in the region.
2027 Parks and Nature Levy Renewal
Metro Council has asked staff to develop a proposal to renew the parks and nature levy in May 2027. The goal is to continue supporting parks, natural areas and communities across the region.
Now, we want your input
Metro Council will review the proposed levy renewal plan in early 2027. The plan will outline:
- Investment priorities: What the levy will fund and why those investments matter
- Goals: Long-lasting impacts of the levy
- Measuring progress: How we will track results and demonstrate accountability
Join the conversation
Connect with community partners and regional leaders, share your ideas, and help shape the future of parks and nature in our region.
At this event, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Learn: Hear what Metro Council has asked staff to include in the 2027 levy renewal and why.
- Share your feedback: Tell us what’s important to you in the levy renewal’s core investment areas of nature park operations, community grants, and education and stewardship programming. Tell us how Metro should measure and report on progress.
- Explore what's next: Discuss future needs and opportunities for restoring natural areas, providing community programs and caring for regional parks -- including ideas that go beyond what the levy can fund.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Parks & Nature Lab 2.0 will be more structured than other recent events co-hosted by Metro and The Intertwine Alliance. A presentation to share what we've heard so far will begin promptly at 5 p.m., and will set the stage for structured activites and discussions the rest of the evening.
- Heavy appetizers, along with water and lemonade, will be served. Thank you, Metro!
- The Zoo's new Conservation Hall is ADA accessible. It's close to the Zoo’s ride share pick up/drop off area and to the parking lot. We're limiting attendance to 75 people to keep the room spacious enough for wheelchairs and other mobility needs.
We hope you will join us! Please email Intertwine Alliance Director Tara Wilkinson at [email protected] with any questions or needs.
