Generously hosted by Ropes & Gray LLP, this in-person event will bring together experts from across commercial legal practice and academia to provide insights into:
· The intersection of climate change and human rights, including international developments, with a specific focus on the dynamics in the United States (including current constraints, federal and state splits, and key drivers).
· The role of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and other key reference points.
· The intersections and impacts of mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence legislation, climate transition plan requirements, public and private procurement requirements, institutional investor expectations, and other emerging trends.
· How corporations are operationalising the UNGPs and other rights-based frameworks, key challenges, and what best practice looks like.

Michael Littenberg
Michael is the global head of Ropes & Gray’s ESG, CSR & Business and Human Rights Compliance practice. He is widely recognized as a leading ESG, CSR and business and human rights practitioner, having advised clients on compliance requirements and stakeholder expectations for his entire career. Michael is highly ranked for both ESG and business and human rights by Chambers Global, among other accolades and awards. Michael has authored hundreds of thought leadership pieces on a diverse range of ESG, CSR and Business and Human Rights Compliance topics, and is often quoted in the media. Michael is also a steering committee member of R&G Insights Lab, a differentiated Ropes & Gray solution for corporate governance and risk in complex business environments.
Dr Maria Antonia Tigre
Maria Antonia is the Director of at the Sabin Center, where she collaborates with scholars and practitioners to study the relationship between human rights and the environment. An active member of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law, Maria Antonia also contributes to the development and advancement of environmental legal frameworks and has authored numerous publications on regional and international environmental law, with a specific focus on environmental rights, the evolution of international environmental law, and climate litigation.
Benjamin Guthrie
Ben in a Senior Associate at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer's New York office, where he focuses on international arbitration and public international law. Ben’s practice involves helping clients present their cases effectively and strategically in high-stakes international arbitration. He has represented clients in commercial and treaty arbitrations conducted under the rules of most major international arbitration institutions (e.g. ICSID, ICC, LCIA, AAA/ICDR, and ad hoc arbitration under the UNCITRAL rules). Benjamin also advises on issues of public international law, New York contract law, and the intersection between business and international human rights norms.
