Nick Bhalla's Big Blue Moon with special guest the Race Hoglund QuintetI’ve been a working musician for over a decade, consistently in the flow of performing and educating. I’d love to share my skills and experience with you.
I first started playing the piano at the age of four. When I was growing up, I added trumpet to the mix and played that through college (on a jazz scholarship to St. Olaf). During college I became entranced by the guitar, which remained my main instrument until 2022, when I was diagnosed with nerve damage in my elbow. Instead of being discouraged by this long-term chronic pain injury, I turned my focus back to the piano. Within two years of moving back into the piano, I formed my trio Big Blue Moon and began performing regularly as a solo and trio pianist all over the Twin Cities, including some of our best jazz venues such as Berlin, Icehouse, Metronome, and Jazz Central Studios.
