About this Event
The Sports Negotiation Competition will focus on the biggest and fastest growing sports in the world, the professional soccer industry. The Sports Law Negotiation Competition will be centered on professional soccer contracts and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL).
Teams will represent clients in a simulated negotiation based on a confidential fact pattern inspired by current issues in sports law. This competition is designed to challenge participants' ability to negotiate creative solutions, advocate for their clients' interests, and navigate the evolving landscape of athlete representation and commercial rights.
Advancing Through the Competition & Scoring:
On the first day of the competition, teams will participate in two rounds, negotiating various topics within the soccer industry. These may include signing a player to a team, building a stadium, negotiating media rights, adding an expansion team to the league, or addressing other relevant issues. The final day will showcase the top 4 performing teams in two additional rounds, with fact patterns that may build upon those from earlier stages.
Each team will receive the fact patterns no later than two (2) to three (3) weeks before the event. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges consisting of world-renowned sports lawyers and agents.
Reception:
In addition to the competition, all participants are welcome to join the judges for a “social hour” at the end of the first day to network and ask questions in a closer setting. Location is currently TBD.
