In this relaxing and immersive class, participants will explore a curated collection of aromatic woods, resins, herbs, and flowers and learn how these natural ingredients combine to create beautiful fragrance and atmosphere.
Participants will discover the fundamentals of incense making, including how aromatic plant materials release scent, how to balance ingredients for fragrance and burn quality, and how incense has been used throughout history in ritual, meditation, and everyday living and explore the scent profiles of different woods and resins.
This is a chance for you to slow down while working mindfully with beautiful plant based materials.
Throughout the workshop you will work with beautiful materials such as sandalwood, frankincense, resins, and botanicals, learning how to blend your own unique incense formulation before shaping and finishing your incense by hand.
This workshop is perfect for anyone curious about natural fragrance, botanical craft, mindfulness, or traditional incense making techniques.
WHAT STUDENTS CAN EXPECT TO DO & MAKE
During the workshop participants will:
• Explore a variety of aromatic woods, resins, herbs, and botanical powders
• Learn how different natural ingredients contribute to fragrance and burn quality
• Discover traditional incense blending techniques
• Create and blend their own custom incense formulation
• Learn how to shape and finish incense by hand using traditional methods
Each participant will craft their own small batch of botanical incense using natural aromatic ingredients and take home their handcrafted incense along with the knowledge and confidence and a deeper understanding of aromatic plant materials, traditional incense crafting techniques, and the ability to experiment with your own blends.
