FRIDAY NIGHT: SALON GARDEN
- Enjoy Small Bites
- Performances by Ro(b)//ert Lundberg / Edith Judith / DJ Set to Close
- Chicago Based bassist, water drinker ~ infrastructural thinker ~ music, word, and image tinkerer Ro(b)//ert Lundberg
- Ro(b)//ert Lundberg’s solo work focuses on the interaction of human infrastructure and the spaces it inhabits. Through slowly shifting rhythms in sound, language, and video, they attempt to reorient audiences to more-than-human relations hiding in plain si(gh)t[e]. Drawing sonic inspiration from the glitch minimalism of Ryoji Ikeda, the tuneful experimentalism of Arthur Russell, and the engrossing trance of Hamid el Kasri, Lundberg constructs performances that unsettle presumed relations to pipes, property, pollution.
- Edith Judith is a the indie/folk duo project of Chicago experimentalists Katie Ernst (vocals, bass, double bass) and Dustin Laurenzi (guitars, synthesizers, saxophone, clarinet, flute, vocals). They have received critical acclaim from PopMatters for their “beguiling style of indie folk” on their debut album, Bones & Structure, released on Ruination Records in 2022. For their MITG set, Ernst and Laurenzi are joined by guitarist Matt Gold.
- Vintage Market / Artisan sellers / chapbooks / poetry / zines / Vintage Clothing + Jewelry
SATURDAY NIGHT: SONIC CURIOSITY
- New York experimental musician, composer and creative technologist Qiujiang Levi Lu
- Qiujiang Levi Lu presents an improvised solo electronic set developed from an evolving five-year feedback practice. Using self-built feedback trumpet and trombone systems, Tapescape, an intraoral speaker, and a joystick-controlled processing instrument, Lu builds recursive circuits between the body, acoustic instruments, electronics, and the surrounding space. The performance moves between sustained drone, fragile resonance, and volatile noise, unfolding through close attention to breath, touch, repetition, and the shifting balance between control and surrender.
Watch:
- Brooklyn-based interdisciplinary artist working across sound, performance, text, and visual art Isabel Crespo Pardo
- Captivated by the realms of memory, spirit and ephemerality, Isabel Crespo Pardo creates rituals of transformation that center improvisation as a bridge to the subconscious. Inspired by latin american histories, black american art, and queer and trans thought, crespo treats performance as a site where vulnerability, interconnection, and form are negotiated in real time.
Watch:
- Chicago based duo Heavy Tiny
- Heavy Tiny is a small dense thing, bigger inside than out. Heavy Tiny is a diorama of the outside of the room that we’re in. Heavy Tiny is field recordings, synths, walkie talkies, found objects, Nick Meryhew and Lia Kohl.
