The Spinning Trance Dance with Alessandra Belloni & Sufi Whirling with Juliet Rania

Join us for an evening of movement, rhythm, meditation, and deep connection as we journey into the sacred art of spinning.
Through the ancient practices of the Southern Italian Spinning Dance and Sufi Whirling, we will explore the transformative power of circular movement as a pathway to release, healing, and returning to the heart.
We begin with an opening circle and an astrological introduction to the Venus and Mercury Direct station with Katie Cercone setting the energetic landscape for our evening.
Alessandra Belloni will then lead us in the ancient spinning dance ritual
Lastly we will end with Sufi whirling, a movement meditation to close our ritual
Tea will be served
Please do not eat a heavy meal right before this workshop

About Alessandra Belloni
The only woman in the U.S. and in Italy with 45 years of performing and teaching the ancient healing tradition of Tarantella in folk dances and percussion combined with singing. Alessandra Belloni is also the proud receipient of the 2026 Heritage Fellowship award from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts for life time achievement as a Folk Arts Master.

About Juliet Rania
Juliet Rania is a writer, performance artist and ritualist born and raised in NYC. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing and Anthropology from New School University and a Master’s Degree in Women’s History from Sarah Lawrence College. She is the founder of The Source, an artist community located in Woodstock, New York. She has lectured and performed at various venues throughout New York including the Artist Space, U.N. General Assembly, Barnard College, Cathedral St. John the Divine, New York Open Center, Omega Institute, Three Jewels Foundation, CX, Union Theological Seminary and ABC Carpet and Home. Juliet teaches Sufi spiritual technologies as a representative of the Nur Ashki Jerrahi Sufi Order and has apprenticed under Alessandra Belloni for over a decade. Juliet is the co-founder of Moon Lab, a co-created ritual space for femmes and allies, began in Spring of 2024. Organized and facilitated by Juliet, Sal Chen and Fanny Perez.
