About this Event
Art critic, designer, and curator Elena Karpilova shares her story, from Minsk to Lisbon, from architecture to art jewelry, from a jewelry “showcase” in her apartment to an upcoming exhibition in Venice. Drawing on her own experience of displacement, Karpilova sees contemporary art jewelry as a vehicle for bringing voices together and discovering connections between various disciplines. Through her curatorial projects, built around unconventional forms of interaction in different spaces and different countries, Karpilova’s practice builds new communities that foster a sense of home.
As part of her talk, Elena Karpilova will curate, in real time, a selection of works that explores the main ideas of her practice.

Elena Karpilova was born in Belarus, since 2022 lives in Portugal. She's a contemporary jewelry curator, writer, and co-founder of the Architectural Thinking School for Children. Her practice explores jewelry through an interdisciplinary lens.
