About this Event
Mind Over Miles Atlanta: Mindful Running at Piedmont Park
Running often becomes another number.
Pace. Distance. Splits. Personal records.
Mind Over Miles takes a different approach.
This small-group Sunday morning run combines easy movement with simple attention practices designed to help you notice how you are moving while you move.
There is no race clock.
There is no leaderboard.
There is no required pace.
Instead, the run is divided into four short loops. Each loop focuses on something different: your body, your breath, your surroundings and your own choice of effort.
Between loops, the group pauses briefly to reset before moving again.
The morning finishes with a guided cooldown, stretching, a short quiet reflection and a recovery beverage.
Distance
The planned guided route uses four loops of the Active Oval running track for a total of approximately 2.1 miles.
You may run, run/walk or walk/jog.
You do not have to complete every loop.
How the Run Works
Loop One — Body
Notice your footfall, posture, shoulders and areas where you may be carrying unnecessary tension.
Loop Two — Breath
Notice the rhythm of your breathing without forcing it into a particular pattern.
Loop Three — Environment
Shift attention outward to sound, light, temperature and the space around you.
Loop Four — Choice
Choose an effort that feels sustainable rather than matching someone else's speed.
Brief standing pauses separate each section.
The reflection prompts are private. No one is required to share personal feelings with the group.
What to Bring
Wear running shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather.
Bring water.
Sunscreen and sun protection are recommended when appropriate.
Please bring any personal items you normally require for outdoor exercise.
Safety
Participation is always optional.
You may slow down, walk, skip a loop or stop at any point.
If you feel unwell, dizzy, unusually short of breath or otherwise unable to continue comfortably, stop participating and notify a member of the event team.
