About Ben Day:

For more than forty years, the London born jeweller has been making singular pieces fusing his skills as a goldsmith with modern technology. Educated at the Central School of Art and Design in Holborn (1987), his training instilled a respect for classical technique, while his formative influences from 1970s Marvel comics and punk gave his work a distinctive visual confidence.

Colour defines his practice. Initially working in enamel, visiting the Los Angeles’ downtown jewellery district in the 1990s marked a decisive shift towards exceptional gemstones. Discovering high-cut cabochons, nebula like opals, star sapphires and cat’s eyes, he began building relationships with independent lapidarists whose innovative cutting and polishing techniques continue to inform his collections.

Each stone is individually sourced; many are one of a kind. His work first found an international audience at Maxfield in Los Angeles with their iconicHollywood clients, before selling collections through Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and Liberty.

From 2002 to 2026, he sold exclusively from his own shop and studio — initially in a restored Huguenot house in Spitalfields, later in Notting Hill, and from 2017 on Columbia road in east London.

He now divides his time between a studio in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and a London showroom, maintaining a focused practice centred on design and craftsmanship, rarity and a considered use of colour.
