About this Event
Such was the demand for this masterclass in 2025, it's great to have it back, although this year, and based on what you told us, we're doing it a bit differently!
Included in the ticket price is lunch from one of our street food traders plus a ticket to the Literary Lounge Poetry event at 12 pm in St Mary's Church of Ireland, Maynooth.
Participants will look at work from published poets (both ‘traditional’ and ‘experimental’), at some formal ideas, and discuss the question of placing one’s faith in the life of imagination in a challenging, sometimes ugly, world. In the morning session, the group will informally discuss diverse aspects of writing poetry, in particular the question of Voice, Style and Form, and Tone.
Participants are encouraged to use their lunchbreak to produce a new piece of poetry (not an anxiety-inducing experience but an adventure!). What follows in the group discussion afterwards will be supportive, consolidating, and helpful to those who hope to keep writing.
