Set in the wonderful surroundings of St Mary's Church of Ireland, Maynooth, the 2026 Literary Lounge opens with Professor Vona Groarke, who will read from her work and chat with novelist, short story writer and MU lecturer Belinda McKeon in a conversation that will focus on her poetry.

Vona Groarke, Ireland Professor of Poetry, is the author of fifteen books, including nine collections of poetry with The Gallery Press. Her most recent collection, Infinity Pool, was shortlisted for the 2025 T.S. Eliot Prize.
Her Selected Poems was awarded the 2017 Piggott Prize for Best Irish Poetry Collection. Recent poems have appeared in The New Yorker, Poetry (Chicago), The Poetry Review, New York Review of Books, Irish Times, and TLS.
2017 recipient of the Irish Literary Hall of Fame Award, she is a member of Aosdána and of the U.K.’s Royal Society of Literature. Former editor of Poetry Ireland Review and poetry critic for the Irish Times, she is Writer in Residence at St John’s College, Cambridge (2022-26), and is the current Ireland Professor of Poetry (2025-28).
