The Maghreb Film Festival brings the richness and diversity of contemporary cinema from the Maghreb to Haarlem and Amsterdam. Presenting films from and about North Africa and its diasporas, the festival offers a platform for established and emerging filmmakers whose work reflects the many stories, cultures and perspectives of the region. Through feature films, documentaries and shorts, the programme explores themes ranging from identity, migration and memory to family, social change and the legacies of colonialism. Bringing filmmakers, artists and audiences together, the festival aims to create space not only for cinema, but also for encounter, conversation and exchange, connecting stories from the Maghreb with (diasporic) audiences in the Netherlands. Africadelic is an Amsterdam-based non-profit organization and platform committed to the programming and promotion of African and African diasporic cultural creativity, diversity and activism in the Netherlands and beyond. The annual Africadelic Festival is an ode to the African continent and its worldwide diaspora, celebrating the cultural richness and profound influence of Afrodescendants, people of African descent, on global culture and society. Taking place from May 20-27, 2026, this year’s edition once again featured a vibrant week of events. Beyond the annual festival, Africadelic presents many events throughout the year, often in collaboration with partners, such as, for the first time this year, the Maghreb Film Festival.
