Join us for a landmark edition of Listyn KC—The Listyning Room's flagship program—as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of one of the greatest achievements in recorded music: The Beatles' 1966 masterpiece, Revolver.
Across two hours, our curated presentation will chart the sonic revolution that took place inside Abbey Road Studios. We'll explore how Revolver shattered the boundaries of pop music—introducing reverse tape loops, Indian classical instrumentation, avant-garde studio experimentation, and razor-sharp songwriting—before culminating in a full album playback.
We'll begin by diving deep into the studio innovations pioneered by George Martin and Geoff Emerick—from the close-mic'd string octet on "Eleanor Rigby" to the groundbreaking tape-loop soundscapes of "Tomorrow Never Knows." Then, we’ll bring the night home with a complete playback of the album in full dynamic resolution, letting our high-fidelity system highlight Paul McCartney's melodic basslines, George Harrison's soaring sitar work, and John Lennon's visionary vocal treatments with pristine analog warmth.
Our high-fidelity system will bring every tape loop, vocal texture, and pristine acoustic detail to life with stunning clarity and analog warmth.
Grab a drink, take your seat, and experience a historic milestone in music history like you've never heard it before!
