About this Event
Hi, I am Tiffany, and I started KC Grief Collective as a way to make meaning out of unimaginable loss. I believe grief is meant to be witnessed, and no one should carry their grief alone. My desire is simple: create a community of authentic people, ditching the Midwest niceties and being real with one another. Let’s not pretend we are “fine” when we are not. It’s OK to show up messy. AND in being real and showing up as ourselves “where we are at” in the present moment, we can also share joy and laughter and the gratitude - not always, not yet - that come from challenges and loss. We grieve because we have loved, and it is in that vein that I welcome you into this community. Come as you are.
I heard about Sad Hours through a friend, and I reached out to Grieve Leave to host the first one in Kansas City. Grief is something we all will experience, so why not do it together?
Sad Hours (because not every hour is happy) flip the script on how we deal with loss. They’re real-life gatherings where you can ditch the “I’m fine” act and actually talk about what’s going on with people who get it.
No two Sad Hours are the same. We’ve shared stories over fries, made candles together, unrolled yoga mats — and we’re always game to try something new. The vibe is simple: real people talking about real things, but there’s no pressure to share if you don’t want to. Sad Hours are all about real connection around a table, or over a drink or two (or zero).
Entry fee is $20. Includes one drink, light appetizers and admin fees.
