Join us for Saturday afternoon’s edition of spIN Focus as we drop the needle on Pink Floyd’s immersive 1975 masterpiece, Wish You Were Here.Follow-up to the colossal success of The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here captures the band at a moment of deep alienation, grappling with the pressures of sudden superstardom and the tragic mental decline of founding member Syd Barrett. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, the album is a tour de force of melancholic synthesizers, soaring guitar solos, and biting commentary on the music industry.
We’ll open the hour with a brief introduction unpacking the tense studio atmosphere in 1975, the haunting mythos behind Barrett's unexpected visit during the mix, and the groundbreaking sound design of the record. Then, we turn the floor over to a full, uninterrupted spin of the album—letting our high-end system highlight every four-note guitar motif on "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," the acoustic intimacy of the title track, and Richard Wright's lush synth textures in pristine analog depth.
Drop in, grab an afternoon drink, and experience one of rock's most sublime records in full hi-fi sound! Doors open at 6:30 PM | Intro & Listen at 7:00 PM.
