Light Up a Loss 2026
Join us for our third annual Light Up a Loss Ceremony, a special evening of remembrance held during Baby Loss Awareness Week 2026.
This heartfelt event offers an opportunity for families, friends, and members of our community to come together to remember and honour babies who are deeply loved and dearly missed. Whether you experienced loss recently or many years ago, you are warmly invited to share this evening of reflection, support, and remembrance.
Together, we will light personalised lanterns in memory of precious babies, creating a beautiful display of love, hope, and connection. As the lanterns glow, we pause to remember sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, grandchildren, and all those who will forever hold a place in our hearts.
Let us light up the darkness with love and remembrance.
What to Expect
✨ Personalised Memorial Lanterns
Following registration, each family will receive a lantern, flameless candle, and decorative accessories. You may choose to personalise your lantern with your baby's name, a message, photographs, or other meaningful tributes before bringing it to the event.
Please note that these are display lanterns and will not be released into the environment. Families are welcome to take their lanterns home at the end of the evening.
✨ A Beautiful Display of Remembrance
As darkness falls, our lantern display will create a peaceful and comforting space for reflection. The gentle candlelight offers a moment of quiet remembrance and connection with others who have experienced loss.
✨ Music and Readings
The evening will feature beautiful performances from the Sing Me Merseyside Choir, alongside thoughtful readings and poetry from members of our maternity and bereavement teams.
✨ Virtual Memorial Display
A special memorial presentation will feature the names of babies being remembered during the event. If you would like your baby's name to be included, please ensure you complete the relevant section when booking.Copilot said:

Event Information
📍 Venue: The Retreat Café, Arrowe Park Hospital
(Located behind the Women and Children's Building. This separate entrance allows access without entering the maternity department or the main hospital building.)
🚗 Parking: Free parking is available in Car Parks G and H.
☕ Refreshments: Light refreshments will be available throughout the evening.
Please Note
This is a family-friendly event. We welcome parents, grandparents, siblings, children, babies, friends, and all those who wish to remember a precious baby. Members of our maternity, neonatal, bereavement, and support teams will also be present to offer support throughout the evening.
Supporting Bereavement Care at Arrowe Park
This event is free to attend. However, if you are able, we kindly invite you to make a donation in support of bereavement services at Arrowe Park.
Bereavement Care has been identified as an important area of ongoing development within the Trust. Donations help us continue improving the care, support, and resources available for families experiencing loss.
Recent developments have included:

❤️ Improvements to bereavement environments and family support services
❤️ Ongoing projects developed alongside families and the Bereavement Focus Group

We will be joined for our third year by the incredible voices of the Sing Me Merseyside Choir. They bring beauty, elegance and heart to the evening, and it simply wouldn't be the same without them. Always an extra special part of the event, SingMe Founder and Musical Director, Billy Hui, is also a proud ambassador for the WUTH charity.
