There are stories inside all of us. Sometimes all we need is a little space, a little inspiration, and permission to let the pen speak.
Join Slim with the Pen at Da Book Joint for Let the Pen Speak, a creative writing workshop designed to give you the space to put your thoughts, ideas, memories, and imagination onto the page.
Whether you've been writing for years, have a notebook full of unfinished thoughts, or haven't written anything since school, you are welcome here.
This is a space to explore your creativity, connect with other writers, and simply give yourself permission to write.
What to Expect
During this workshop, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Explore creative writing prompts and exercises
- Get those creative juices flowing
- Write freely in a supportive, judgment-free environment
- Connect with other creatives and writers
- Discover new ways to express yourself through the written word
- Share your work if you feel comfortable
Sharing is encouraged, but never required. You can come simply to write, listen, reflect, and enjoy the creative energy in the room.
Featured Poets
We'll also be joined by the featured poets, Ms Mama's Pen and Jeronimo Speaks, who will showcase their work and share their creative voices with the group.
We hope their words inspire you to share some of your own.
And if you feel moved to read something you've written during the workshop, we'd love to hear it, but there is absolutely no pressure to share.

Bring your favorite notebook, journal, laptop, or just yourself. We'll bring the prompts, the paper, the community, and the space.
