KIKU means "to listen" in Japanese. Every Tuesday we slow down, gather in a room, and hear a record the way it was meant to be heard, with attention, context, and other people.
November 17 is A Moon Shaped Pool (2016). The week before it came out, the band wiped their website and their social feeds to blank. The record was made on tape, in a disused mill in the south of France and at home in Oxfordshire, with Jonny Greenwood's strings written first and the orchestra playing them with guitar picks on Burn the Witch. It closes with True Love Waits, a song first played live in 1995 and finished twenty years later. The tracks run in alphabetical order. We play it front to back.
This November at Kiku:
November 3: Kid A (2000)
November 10: In Rainbows (2007)
November 17: A Moon Shaped Pool (2016)
November 24: OK Computer (1997)
KIKU. Rhythm. Stories. Culture.
