Join KAANY for our thirteenth Architalk, featuring architect, educator, and Togather founder Prof. Eugene Kwak. Continuing KAANY’s 2026 theme, “Together,” this conversation explores how architecture can support regenerative agriculture, farmland access, and community resilience.
Togather is an award-winning, place-based initiative rooted in agroecological principles. Through affordable housing and long-term, free land leases for beginning farmers, it connects access to land with the conditions farmers need to live, grow, and care for it over time.
Building on this model, Togather now hosts a collaborative chefs’ farm with Hand Hospitality and chefs from Atomix, Joo Ok, Jua, and Okdongsik. Growing ingredients directly on the land creates opportunities for farmers and chefs to learn from one another, strengthen local and regional food systems, and deepen the connection between what we eat and where it comes from.
In conversation with moderator Steve Hong, Prof. Kwak will share his journey from architectural ideas to hands-on practice—and reflect on what it means to cultivate a life together through land stewardship, farming, and community.

2026년 카니의 주제인 ‘Together’를 이어가며, 건축과 농업, 식량 시스템, 지역사회의 회복탄력성이 만나는 지점을 탐구하는 곽유진 교수님을 모십니다. 건축사이자 뉴욕주립대학교에서 가르치는 교육자, 그리고 Togather의 설립자인 곽 교수님은 건축의 가능성을 토지와 먹거리, 사람을 연결하는 실천으로 넓혀가고 있습니다.
Togather는 농장과 먹거리, 사람이 함께하는 장소 기반의 프로젝트입니다. 농생태학적 원칙을 바탕으로 신규 농업인에게 부담 가능한 주거와 장기 무상 토지 임대를 제공하며, 농지 접근성을 높이고 재생농업과 지속적인 토지 돌봄을 실천할 수 있는 기반을 만들어갑니다.
이러한 모델을 바탕으로 Togather는 현재 Hand Hospitality 및 Atomix, Joo Ok, Jua, Okdongsik의 셰프들과 함께 협업 농장을 운영하고 있습니다. 농장에서 식재료를 직접 기르는 과정은 농부와 셰프를 연결하고, 지역 먹거리 체계를 강화하며, 우리가 먹거리를 선택하고 소비하는 방식을 새롭게 바라보게 합니다.
이번 대담에서는 Steve Hong의 진행으로 곽 교수님의 건축적 생각이 현장의 실천으로 이어지는 여정을 만나봅니다. 땅을 가꾸고, 먹거리를 기르고, 공동체를 만들어가는 과정을 통해 ‘더불어 사는 삶’의 의미를 함께 나누고자 합니다.
