Love in the Big City (대도시의 사랑법), presented in conjunction with a special conversation with Sang Young Park, the author of the original novel.
Based on Park’s acclaimed novel, Love in the Big City follows Jae-hee and Heung-soo, two young people navigating love, friendship, loneliness, and adulthood in the vibrant yet isolating city of Seoul. Through their unconventional friendship and complicated relationships, the film offers a candid and heartfelt look at what it means to find connection and build a life on your own terms.
Following the screening, audiences will have the opportunity to hear directly from the author in a special author talk and conversation, exploring the inspiration behind the novel, its journey from page to screen, and the themes of love, friendship, and identity that run throughout the story.
Sang Young Park was born in Daegu in 1988 and studied French Language and Literature and Journalism & Mass Communication at Sungkyunkwan University before earning a graduate degree in Creative Writing from Dongguk University. After working in a variety of industries, including publishing, advertising, and consulting, Park began his literary career in 2016 after winning the Munhakdongne New Writers’ Award.
