Join us as we welcome JOY BATEMAN in conversation with JOHN CURRENCE on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 3 at 6:00 PM to celebrate the release of her new book THE ART OF DINING IN OXFORD.ABOUT THE BOOK:
A useful gift or addition to any regional travel collection--no matter where you live! The charm of The Art of Dining in Oxford--just released for gifting over the holidays and for future special occasions---originates in the authentic recipes (previously secret recipes) selected by the 29 restaurants in this famous Foodie City and the details of each restaurant's atmosphere.
Artist and author Joy Bateman's colorful and whimsical drawings bring readers into the scene of a select variety of proven restaurants, with each restaurant sharing one authentic recipe as its entry to this special new edition.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Joy Bateman’s passion for food and art is part of her genetic code. Born to a businessman and an artistic and scholarly mother, Joy learned the art of fine dining while growing up in Memphis mostly because her mother found little time to cook for her kids at home. That’s how Joy learned as a young child that restaurants can be the source of good and imaginative food. Later in life Joy shifted from a successful 42-year career in advertising sales to author. Since 2005 she has published 10 books on The Art of Dining which features recipes of unforgettable dishes from fine restaurants in Memphis, New Orleans, Amelia Island, Nashville and Knoxville. Now in her 21st year, she’s publishing yet another book, this time featuring restaurants in Oxford, Mississippi. As she did with her other books, she includes her witty and impish artwork as part of each recipe entry. The result is a feast for the eye as well as a fun-filled guide to the recipes of 25 Oxford restaurants. Yet life for Joy isn’t only about food and art. She carves out enough time to enjoy her husband, her three children and four grandchildren. And she cooks for all of them.
