Originally written on a ukulele in the passenger seat of a car-ride from Montreal to Toronto, "Let's Not Try So Hard" dares listeners to really tune in and join the "slow music" revolution.
Stuart's/Jessica's unusually honest, un-manicured studio performance (with lead vocal & guitar recorded in a full take live-off-the-floor), sets up the question of how to find the magic balance that bridges the demands of the "pocket computer" era with our ability to know when to fall back from our plans, and ride the wave of life happening around us.
Expect old-school, organic songwriting goodness, that will make you wanna sing the chorus (without a front-loaded hook pandering to streaming platform listener trends), and if you listen closely, you'll hear recording "artifacts" left in the final production fabric, because life, like this single, is imperfect and beautiful.
