The Firepit Red Room is legendary, welcome to our first monthly Jazz night. House Band, House Cocktails, Firepit will be on - literally!
About this Event

The Firepit Red Room is legendary. Welcome to our first monthly Jazz night.

Every second Thursday of the month, the Red Room at Firepit Art Gallery opens its doors for a new night of live Jazz music. It has been needed for some time, but as with all things FIrepit, the search for the right people has been organic.

Doors open at 6pm for drinks and a wander round the gallery. From 8pm, settle in for two hours of live jazz from a band led by trumpeter Tom Gaddes, alongside double bass, guitar, and the extraordinary vocals of Diana Carmin.

We'll have a special cocktail menu created just for the evening, alongside our regular house cocktails (£8.50). Dressing up is encouraged, but never compulsory — come as you are, or come as you wish you were.

It's free to attend, but we expect this one to fill up — grab your ticket to guarantee your spot.

The House Band

Vocals - Diana Carmin
Trumpet - Tom Gaddes
Double Bass - Ashwari Panesar
Guitar - Dan tainty

Led by trumpeter Tom Gaddes, jazz trumpeter based in London and a resident of Upper Riverside, right next door to Firepit.

Born in Bury, Greater Manchester, Tom began his musical journey on piano before taking up the trumpet. Through his childhood he played across a range of classical ensembles, from brass bands to orchestras, including a stint as principal trumpet of the Hallé Youth Orchestra. At 17, he earned the lead trumpet chair with the Greater Manchester Police Big Band, a role he held until his move to London.

At 18, Tom relocated to London to pursue jazz at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where he's studied and received mentorship from some of the finest names in British jazz, including Julian Joseph, Hans Koller, Byron Wallen, Steve Williamson and Rachael Cohen. His appetite for learning has taken him further still, seeking out tuition from musicians in the USA such as Jeremy Pelt.

Alongside his studies, Tom has built experience across the full spectrum of jazz, from intimate small ensembles to classic big bands, performing with musicians including Mark Armstrong and Enrico Tomasso.

Our Singer

Diana Carmin has a velvet voice that moves like smoke through a dimly lit room: sultry, mesmerising, and quietly devastating. She interprets songs with a ritualistic thirst, drawing from the greats of 1960s jazz, with light incorporations of her Balkan heritage and calm, occasional waves of bossa nova.

Winner of Fuller Sounds '25 and shortlisted for the prestigious Peter Whittingham Jazz Award, Diana has climbed upon many a stage, earning her chops in London's jazz rooms — from the notorious upstairs vocal jam at Ronnie Scott's, to the fresh downstairs at 180, to the respected St Katharine Docks Jazz Festival. This year she's headlined New Music Monday with her quintet at The Ned, and is fresh back from opening the festival season in the Carpathian Mountains at Gărâna Fest, alongside a solo national radio appearance.

Her debut album, Tender, is on the way — but live is where she truly shines. Expect a quiet double-time feel, fierce fire, and a presence you won't forget.
