Luca Curcio is an Italian-born bassist, composer, and producer based between Berlin and Copenhagen. His work explores the intersection of improvisation, rhythm, and studio production, merging groove, sampling, and collective interplay into a distinctive and contemporary musical language.
Originally from northern Italy, Luca began his musical path in a local community band, first playing trumpet before turning to drums, then electric bass, and eventually double bass. His artistic development has been deeply shaped by mentorship with Petter Eldh and by his involvement in Berlin's experimental music community, where he relocated in 2022. Early influences from dub, hip hop, jungle, and drum'n'bass helped shape his rhythmic sensibility, and continue to inform his work today.
Curcio has been active on the European scene for over a decade collaborating with artists such as Bex Burch, Lukas Akintaya, Kit Downes, Lukas Koenig, Malcolm Braff, Otis Sandsjö, Jon Balke, Lukas König, Sera Kalo, Igor Osypov among others. As sideman and producer he has contributed to a number of international projects such as Mané Fernandes' Enter the sQuigg, Lukas Akintaya's The In Between, Bex Burch's As Yet Untitled, Igor Osypov's HyperOZ, performing regularly at festivals and clubs across Europe.
