🌕 Tsukimi: Japanese Moon Viewing, Mindfulness & Calligraphy Workshop 🐇

In collaboration with our special mindfulness instructor, Tiffany, we are delighted to invite you to a unique Japanese cultural experience inspired by Tsukimi (月見), the traditional Japanese custom of appreciating the full moon and the beauty of the autumn season.

🌕 Experience the Spirit of Tsukimi

Tsukimi, which literally means “moon viewing”, is a beautiful Japanese seasonal tradition centred around taking time to appreciate the full moon.

Traditionally, people prepare seasonal foods and Tsukimi dango, small white rice dumplings, and enjoy them while admiring the moon. There is also a beautiful Japanese legend about rabbits living on the moon, which is why rabbit imagery is often associated with Tsukimi. 🐇🌕

Beyond the traditions themselves, Tsukimi reflects a beautiful aspect of Japanese culture: taking a moment to appreciate nature, the changing seasons and the present moment.

🧘 Mindfulness & Focus on the moment

Together with Tiffany, our certified mindfulness instructor, you’ll be guided through a relaxing mindfulness experience inspired by the peaceful atmosphere of a Japanese autumn evening.

Take some time to focus on your breathing, become more aware of the present moment and step away from the busyness of everyday life.

🖌️ Japanese Calligraphy

Mare, a certified Japanese calligraphy instructor, will then introduce you to Japanese characters, calligraphy and the seasonal culture behind Tsukimi.

Using traditional Japanese brushes and ink, you’ll have the opportunity to practise calligraphy and create your own piece of artwork inspired by the moon and the autumn season.

This gives you the chance to experience Japanese culture not only by learning about it, but also by slowing down, picking up a brush and creating something yourself.

🍡 A Taste of Japan

To complete the experience, we’ll also enjoy a traditional Japanese sweet treat, mochi, together. 🍡

This workshop brings together Japanese seasonal culture, mindfulness, calligraphy and Japanese sweets in one relaxing experience.

Whether you’re completely new to mindfulness and meditation, have never tried Japanese calligraphy before, or simply want to experience something a little different, everyone is warmly welcome.

Take a breath.
Slow down.
Pick up your brush.
And enjoy a little moment of Tsukimi with us. 🌕🐇
