In the realm of sea shanties and other sea songs, we mostly hear of the exploits of men. On Thursday 5th November, 40 Degrees South is recounting tales of many young women who abandoned their petticoats for a life on the sea: warrior women, pirates, witches, cross-dressers, escaping convicts, stowaways – all having glorious adventures of their own.Chorus sheets will be provided to ensure audience participation, and you're welcome to bring along your own song/s to share.
It's free, sort of - the Sydney Heritage Fleet always appreciates a donation for the running (and endless maintenance) of the ship.
See you there!
