About this Event

The Intermediate Black-and-White Workshop is designed for participants with basic darkroom experience who are ready to refine and expand their printing skills. Building on foundational knowledge, the workshop explores both archival and non-archival printing techniques, covering everything from enlarger adjustments and tray processing to the nuances of final washing, print flattening and long-term preservation.

The session addresses the challenges of achieving consistent, luminous prints. Participants gain practical strategies for visualizing an image from negative to print, understanding how different paper types and processing methods affect the final result.

By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with new tools, techniques and confidence in their ability to produce prints that meet both creative and technical intentions. Participants must bring their own fibre paper up to 16×20 inches; RC paper will be provided by the Gallery. This workshop is recommended for those who have completed the Intro to the Darkroom workshop or have equivalent darkroom experience..
