Is the remarkable complexity of the universe and life on Earth best explained by unguided natural processes—or does it point to something more?
This lecture examines the modern Intelligent Design perspective, drawing from biology, biochemistry, physics, cosmology, astronomy, mathematics, philosophy, and theology. Rather than arguing for a single conclusion, the presentation invites participants to think carefully about what the evidence actually shows: the intricate molecular machinery of living cells, the information encoded in DNA, the fine-tuning of the universe's fundamental constants, the unique conditions that make Earth habitable, and the mathematical improbability of many highly ordered systems arising by chance.
The goal is not to settle the debate, but to explore why many scientists, philosophers, and theologians continue to view Intelligent Design as a meaningful framework for understanding the complexity and apparent purpose found throughout the natural world.
About the Speaker
Dr. Dieter Knowle holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology. After 13 years teaching at Kyungpook National University in South Korea, he now explores the complexity of life and the universe through both scientific inquiry and the Bible.
