About this Event
Ink & Matcha:
Write Your Name in Kanji + Whisk Your Matcha Latte
Join us in person for a fun and creative session where you'll learn how to write your name in beautiful kanji characters. Then, get hands-on experience whisking your very own matcha latte! It's the perfect mix of art and taste. Whether you're a calligraphy newbie or a matcha lover, this event’s got something special just for you!
What you'll take home
🖌 Your name in kanji on fine paper — ready to frame ☕ The name you brushed yourself, printed on a cloth cup cosy — one of a kind, because you wrote it 🍵 The matcha latte you made yourself
What happens in 2 hours
- Your name, prepared before you arrive — we translate it into real kanji (or Chinese characters, your choice), matched to its sound, chosen for its meaning. You'll learn what each character says, and how to read it.
- Learn the brush — the Eight Principles of Yong, the eight strokes behind all East Asian calligraphy
- Write your name — — with your name individually prepared and guided, it comes out beautiful on the first try. No experience needed, no exceptions.
- Press your cosy — we scan the calligraphy you just wrote — your strokes, exactly as you made them — and print it onto a cloth cup cosy while you move to the tea table ·
- Make your matcha latte — whisk, water, pour. The kind you can make at home after.
The quiet part
Calligraphy asks you to slow down: the scent of ink, the weight of the brush, one stroke at a time. There's no undo and no rush — just your breathing and the paper. Two hours that feel like a pause.
Why this workshop
· Real characters, properly translated — you'll know exactly what your name says and why · No kiln, no shipping, no waiting — all three keepsakes leave with you · Small group of 8, so every single name is prepared in advance
Small group means we run on a minimum — if a session is short on numbers, we'll reach out a few days ahead and your spot moves to the next date, or full refund, your choice.
