Be the First to Discover the Theatre of Tomorrow.Because every great production begins with a first reading.
Our community is home to an incredible wealth of creative talent. Glen Street Theatre is proud to partner with Radio Northern Beaches and Manly Theatre Group to support the development of a new work right here on the Northern Beaches.
Written by local writer and playwright David Warner, this staged reading offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the creative process as local artists and musicians bring a new story to life. All we need to make the work complete is you - the audience.
Join us and help bring this new work to life. Your support today could be the first step in an extraordinary journey. You never know where it might go from here, from a script reading on the Northern Beaches to a fully realised production on stages across Australia. And you'll be able to say you were there from the very beginning.
Both performances are being recorded for broadcast on Radio Northern Beaches. Grab a seat early.
Synopsis:
Derek and Sandra are the disco couple who live inside Dave Warner's song "Mug's Game". Lately, hardly anyone plays it, and now they've heard Warner is about to quit music for good. So they set out to find him, from 1970s Perth to London, Surry Hills, Bali and finally into Warner's own head. In Search of the Suburban Boy is a comic, big-hearted new play by Dave Warner: Perth punk pioneer, frontman of Dave Warner's from the Suburbs and award-winning crime novelist. It's packed with more than twenty of his songs and Warner himself may or may not appear in the final scene.
