Join us for the Early Career Researchers Workshop on Wednesday 25 November 2026 at UNSW CBD Campus, Sydney.
The event will bring together early career researchers and PhD candidates, alongside industry and government participants, around the broad theme of Climate Risk and Response.
This year we are developing an interactive program focused on interdisciplinary research, communicating complex ideas, and connecting research with real-world challenges.
The program will progress from shared context and expert perspectives to collaborative activities, team presentations and networking.
Featuring a keynote address from Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, the day will include:
- Lightning talks and poster presentations
- Industry-context briefings
- Interactive Challenge Workshop – Scenario Planning
- Collaborative team presentations and feedback
- Opportunities to connect with researchers, industry and government
- A networking reception with drinks and grazing platters
During the interactive workshop, participants will work in interdisciplinary teams to develop climate-risk scenarios, examine how key drivers may evolve over time and explore the consequences for industry and society. Teams will present their scenarios for feedback and compete for cash prizes of up to $600.

Whether your research focuses on the physical impacts of climate change or its implications for communities, health, policy, business or the economy, we encourage you to attend.
Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and the networking reception will be provided for all participants.
