Explore rooftop solar, batteries, EVs and flexible demand, and how CER integrates into Australia’s National Electricity Market.
About this Event

Consumer Energy Resources (CER), including rooftop solar, batteries, electric vehicles (EVs), and flexible demand are reshaping Australia’s electricity system. As uptake accelerates, integrating CER effectively into the National Electricity Market (NEM) is critical to delivering a reliable, low-emissions energy future.

This two-day course provides a practical overview of CER technologies, their operational configurations, and the standards and regulatory frameworks that govern them. Topics include relevant standards such as AS/NZS 4777.2.2020, CSIP-AUS (IEEE 2030.5), flexible exports, dynamic operating envelopes, CER compliance and curtailment, the Emergency Backstop Mechanism, CER market participation, Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) and Integrating Price Responsive Resources (IPRR) as well as the growing role of demand response and solar soaking.

Drawing on recent research, modelling approaches, and real-world trials, the course examines both the opportunities and integration challenges associated with high CER penetration in Australia. This two-day short course will equip participants with a comprehensive knowledge of CER and provide an opportunity to discuss overarching issues and learn from participants from different industry and academic backgrounds.
