IMPRO Amsterdam is one of the world's largest improvised theatre festivals. This year, for our 30th anniversary, we've got 30 shows from top international performers that demonstrate that impro (also called improv) isn't just funny - it can be so much more.
IMPRO Amsterdam Night 1: IMPRO is... Cinematic
On our opening night we're featuring three very different performances that all celebrate the cinema. One ticket (€25 or €250 with Stadspas) gets you access to the two mainstage shows, and for €3 extra you can come to our late-night special!

- 21:15-22:15 - Improvised Roy Andersson (Dramatiska SE)
For fans of: Auteur cinema · 70’s aesthetics · Gleeful Nihilism
Roy Andersson a very real auteur director from Sweden can best be described as the love child of Wes Anderson and Werner Herzog. The guy has an award-winning movie called “A Pigeon Sat On A Bench Reflecting On Existence” which tells you everything you need to know. Dramatiska inspired by his oeuvre delves into the audience’s shameful revelations in a series of tableaux accompanied by a single tuba and a lot of uncomfortable silence.
Improvised Roy Andersson ran for several sold-out seasons at Stockholms Improvisationsteater.
- 22:30-23:15 - USS Improvise: The Next Generation: The Musical (USS Improvise US)

The crew of the USS Improvise bring to life the characters from the classic (and arguably best) Star Trek series: Star Trek: The Next Generation in a never before seen episode. What mission does this plucky crew set forth into strange new worlds with? How does this universally diverse crew solve the problems of the cosmos? Oh and did we mention it is a musical?!
USS Improvise has been performing at the Funhouse Theater in Portland Oregon USA for twenty years.
