About this Event
This Horton Technique class is a modern dance class, based on the technique created in the 1930/40’s by Lester Horton. The technique focuses on alignment, strength, flexibility and co-ordination to leave the dance feeling strong and aligned in their movement.
For more information about the technique and the creation of it you can research through The Ailey School at Ailey.org.
The first hour of the class will be working through strengthening and alignment exercises including Lateral Stretches, Primitive Squats, Flat Back Stretches and Lateral T's. We will explore turns and travelling across the space, with the last 30 minutes culminating all of this physical information into a dance routine.
There is plenty of space in the building to stay after and chat to others, stretch and video the routine if you should wish.
