Mark Remembrance Day with a meaningful, hands-on creative session in the studio. Join us at Craft Collective as we gather around the workbenches to craft a stunning, handmade beaded poppy pin. Similar to our Indigenous beadwork sessions, this workshop explores traditional beading techniques to create a textured, enduring keepsake you can wear with pride year after year.In the spirit of honouring our veterans, partial proceeds from every ticket will be donated directly to the Royal Canadian Legion.
What You Will Create
Under step-by-step guidance with Taysia, you will work with seed beads, backing materials, and jewellery hardware to assemble your poppy pin:
Dimensional Beadwork: Learn thread tension, bead placement, and secure edge stitching to form petals and a defined centre.
Keepsake Pin: Finish your beaded flower with a secure brooch backing so it is ready to wear on your jacket, scarf, or lapel.
A Maker's Note on Materials and Timing: Because this project uses fine seed beads and needlework, comfortable close-up vision or personal reading/magnification glasses are recommended for the best experience. Headband lights are provided if required. It is expected that this craft will take more than the allotted workshop timing, you will learn the skills and get things started during the workshop and then bring your kit home to finish your poppy at your own pace.
✨ Skill Level: Beginner-friendly; best suited for makers comfortable working with small beads and detailed hand-stitching.
Space at our workbenches is strictly limited so everyone receives plenty of hands-on support. Gather a creative friend, honour our veterans, and craft something lasting together.
