Mountain rescuers from Georgia, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic will meet in the Caucasus Mountains for a specialized training focused on high-altitude medicine, emergency response and mountain rescue operations.Organized by the ICAD Foundation with the support of the International Visegrad Fund, the training will bring together rescuers with different backgrounds and operational experience to develop their medical skills, exchange knowledge and share good practices.
๐๏ธ TRAINING PROGRAMME
The programme will combine theoretical sessions with practical workshops and rescue scenarios based on situations mountain rescuers face in their daily work.
A key part of the training will focus on recognizing and managing altitude-related illnesses, including Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), High-Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) and High-Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE). Participants will also discuss how altitude, weather conditions and limited access to medical assistance affect patient care and rescue decisions.
The training will cover patient assessment and stabilization, emergency medical procedures and the use of specialized equipment in remote mountain environments.
Practical sessions will focus on patient evacuation and transportation in difficult terrain, team coordination and decision-making during complex rescue operations.
๐ค INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
The training will also provide an opportunity for rescuers from Georgia and the Visegrad countries to share their experience, compare working methods and learn from one another.
