Agenda
Introductions and Agenda for the day

Info: We'll start by having introductions to get to know you and your goals for the workshop. We'll also outline the agenda for the workshop.

The Photography Triangle: Aperture, Shutter Speed & ISO

Info: DSLR and mirrorless cameras do a million things. We like to simplify your experience down to the 3 things about your camera, that, when you are comfortable, will let you shoot 95 percent of the images you'd ever want to shoot. We'll introduce these three things to you, what they are, and their general purpose/function in photography.

Depth of Field: Aperture

Info: You'll learn how to control aperture in your camera. What is it? How is it measured and what influences it in an image? You'll get lots of chances to practice what is taught with a caring LPC coach by your side to help you if you hit any hurdles! :0) In this section, you'll also learn how to manage depth of field. You'll start to take beautiful portraits where the person is crisp and sharp and the backdrop is an awesome creamy blur. You'll also learn how to ensure the entire image is in focus.

Managing Motion: Shutter Speed

Info: In this section, you'll learn how to control the shutter speed of your camera, which influences the capture of motion. Master both getting crisp, clear images of motion and using shutter speed to capture motion -- get ready to be able to, for example, turn a flowing stream into a beautiful white/grey blanket of water! Again, you'll get lots of practice with a LPC coach by your side. You'll do it until you know it!

Grain or No Grain: ISO

Info: ISO is how granular your camera uses the light you let in. It serves two purposes. It is your saviour in low light settings where flash is not practical or available. It can also be an artistic choice. Increased levels of ISO add more grain to the image, which many photographers use intentionally to portray a story/message/theme like vintage, edgy, etc. You'll get the chance to practice it with an LPC coach by your side until you feel in control of the important features of your camera.
