About this Event
Through acrobatics, dance, and live music, Habits of Collapse explores relational cycles, ghosts of the past, and the relationship between self and other. The show was organically generated by its 6 performers, representing a synthesis of ideas surrounding grief, compulsion, and possession.
Habits of collapse asks the question: when you find yourself falling into the same cycles of behavior over and over, when you continue tracing your own footsteps back and fourth, do you notice the path wearing down as you tread it?
The show is spearheaded by Matthew Morgan - a Brooklyn based acrobat specializing in aerial straps, and Javen Lara - New York native, violist, vocalist, and composer. The two first debuted work in December of 2025, and have since been creating dynamic, contemplative pieces that showcase Matthew’s virtuosic circus skill with Javen’s musical talent and classical training. They are joined by singer Adia Lara-Thein, as well as dancers Paul Liu, Jean Park, and Poppy Miller.
