Good Relations Treaty Talk Gathering, Saturday October 24th, 1:00 – 3:30pm, Main Library (74 Mackenzie St. Sudbury). Under the Robinson Huron Treaty 1850, all non-Indigenous people who live in Sudbury are treaty partners with 21 sovereign First Nations. Find out what that means and how to value treaties as a foundation for good relations for all of us.
The gathering will open and close with words from Jim Eshkawkogan. We will watch a short video of Grandmother Sherry Copenace who talks about the first Treaties going back to the Anishinaabe Creation Story.
Elizabeth Carlson-Manathara, researcher with ‘The Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850: Living in Good Relations’ research team at Laurentian University, will facilitate us through a presentation and discussion.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided. No cost.
