Real-world Portrait Workshop at Olympic Sculpture Park with Ricky Shoebio
Join photographer and creative director Ricky Shoebio for an immersive, hands-on portrait workshop at Seattle’s Olympic Sculpture Park.
Follow Ricky into a real-world shooting environment as he demonstrates his approach to creating compelling commercial portraits on location. Models will be on hand throughout the workshop, giving you the opportunity to photograph a blend of environmental portraiture and editorial-style imagery while working with the park’s architecture, landscape, and natural surroundings.
Throughout the session, Ricky will share his creative process, techniques for directing and working with subjects, composing within an environment, and practical tips for creating stronger, more intentional portraits in the field.

COME EARLY: THE BENEFITS OF NOT NICHING DOWN
Before heading to Olympic Sculpture Park, join Ricky at The Collective from 3:00–4:00 PM for his lecture, The Benefits of Not Niching Down.
Ricky will share how embracing a broader creative practice can open doors, expand opportunities, and help photographers build more versatile careers. Attend the lecture and workshop together for a deeper look at both the thinking behind Ricky’s work and how he puts it into practice on location.
WHERE TO MEET:
Meet at the red sculpture of "The Eagle" by artist Alexander Calder (pictured below). Tamron will be on-hand to loan out lenses for anyone who would like to experiement with different focal lengths and speeds.
LOANER GEAR:
TRY OUT TAMRON LENSES FOR FREE! Tamron representatives will be on hand with a selection of lenses available to borrow free of charge during the workshop. A variety of camera mounts will be available, including Sony E, Canon RF-S, Nikon Z, Fujifilm X, and select DSLR mounts, giving you the opportunity to try different lenses and discover how they can shape your creative approach.
