About this Event
Glasgow Jazz Club continues its series of intimate, close-quarters performances at an exciting new home: Anderson's (formerly the iconic 13th Note on King Street).
For this session at Anderson's, we are thrilled to present Deceptive Lizard—a powerful five-piece ensemble built around the vision of "unapologetic musical expression."
Led and composed by bassist Brodie Laird-Jarvie, Deceptive Lizard plays high-energy jazz-rock where spontaneous improvisation meets indie-band momentum. Drawing inspiration in part from Jim Black’s AlasNoAxis, the band blends sharp forms and driving grooves into a raw, live sound that connects as powerfully with alternative music fans as it does with contemporary jazz listeners.
Celebrating the release of their debut self-titled album, all five musicians bring their distinct voices to the stage, moulding the written material live to create a fresh, deeply immersive, and explosive experience at every turn.
Join us in the subterranean atmosphere of Anderson's for an exceptional night of progressive live music.
"This music is as honest as I can get in offering something towards a never-ending journey for authenticity and sincerity. Deceptive Lizard embodies everything I have been sonically searching for and is brought to life with the help of these incredible musicians and friends with whom I’ll share the stage." — Brodie Laird-Jarvie
