We are delighted to invite you to a screening of the film, ‘Gaza Nippers - Hope Amid Devastation’, directed by Majed Badra, on Sunday 15 November. You may have recently seen that, in 2019, the Northern Beaches Committee for Palestine supported two men from Gaza, Mohammed and Hassan, to train as surf lifesavers in Manly and take the Nippers program back home to Gaza. In the summer of 2023, Mohammed and Hasan were finally able to implement their training and run a full Nippers program with 45 young people.
The film, ‘Gaza Nippers - Hope Amid Devastation’, reveals the heartbreaking yet inspiring story of the Gaza Nippers program and the children in Gaza growing up under siege and in wars inflicted on them by Israel.
We will also hear from Shamikh and Majed Badra about the recent one-day Nippers event that took place on Gaza Beach, despite the unpredictability and uncertainty of bombings, with children and trainers surviving unscathed.
