About the Concert
Two internationally acclaimed musicians. Six composers. One musical journey across Europe.
Join Capital Keys Performing Arts Foundation for From Madrid to Bucharest, a violin and piano recital featuring Romanian violinist Irina Muresanu and Spanish pianist Daniel del Pino.
Inspired by the artists' cultural backgrounds, the program takes audiences on a journey from Spain to Romania, traveling through France, Austria, Germany, and Hungary along the way. Each work reveals a different musical character, from Spanish color and French elegance to German Romanticism, Hungarian virtuosity, and Romanian folk traditions.
The evening opens with Joaquín Turina's Sonata Española, followed by Camille Saint-Saëns' brilliant Violin Sonata No. 1 and Mozart's graceful Sonata in C Major. Brahms' passionate Scherzo brings a dramatic change of character, while Jenő Hubay's Hejre Kati introduces the energy of Hungarian folk music.
The journey concludes with Stan Golestan's Le Lăutar, a colorful Moldavian fantasy and dance inspired by Romanian musical traditions.
Through these six works, Muresanu and del Pino explore the connections between European musical cultures, showing how music can cross borders while retaining its own distinctive voice.
