About this Event
Frontier Economics is delighted to be hosting the Royal Economic Society's Diversity and Inclusion Network for an afternoon event marking Disability Awareness Month. Disabled and neurodivergent people remain underrepresented across economics, from university classrooms through to senior roles in consultancy, government and academia, and the barriers they face are often invisible to colleagues who haven't experienced them. This event is a chance to hear directly from people working on these issues and to think practically about what we can all do to create a more inclusive profession.
The afternoon opens with a keynote and a panel discussion bringing together voices from academia, policy and practice, exploring what inclusion looks like in the economics profession and where progress is still needed. We'll then split into three breakout sessions, so you can join the conversation most relevant to you:
Education: how students with disabilities experience economics degrees, and what universities and employers can do to widen the pipeline into the profession.
Career progression: the barriers disabled and neurodivergent economists face in recruitment, promotion and day-to-day working life, and what good support looks like in practice.
What works at work?: Disabled and neurodiverse economists discuss the adjustments, systems and cultures that enable us to produce our best work
