About this Event
Join us for a special reading with renowned poet Joshua Weiner who will discuss his translations of Nobel Laureate Nelly Sachs, the German-Swedish poet, playwright, and Holocaust survivor. Weiner reveals the depth, pathos, and spiritual longing in Sach's work, Flight and Metamorphosis, and why it remains equally vital and imperative for our time.
The Kupferberg Holocaust Center series, Remembering the Holocaust Through Poetry, explores the work of poets who respond, document, and educate about the tragedy's enduring physical, emotional, and artistic impact. It is co-sponsored by the Legacy Foundation at Mount Hebron Cemetery; the Holocaust, Genocide & Interfaith Education Center at Manhattan University; the Reiff Center for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution at Christopher Newport University; the Martin-Springer Institute at Northern Arizona University; the Ray Wolpow Institute for the Study of the Holocaust, Genocide & Crimes Against Humanity at Western Washington University; the Voice/Vision Holocaust Survivor Oral History Archive at University of Michigan-Dearborn; the Center for the Study of Genocide & Human Rights at Rutgers University; and the Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center in White Plains.
