As the only ensemble ever to win both the First and Audience Prize at the Premio Paolo Borciani International String Quartet Competition, the Fibonacci Quartet are one of Europe's leading young string quartets.

The quartet perform extensively across Europe, with recent highlights including performances at Vienna Musikverein, Berlin Philharmonie, Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, Frankfurt Alte Oper, Munich Prinzregentheater, Wigmore Hall, Teatro La Fenice, and Philharmonie de Paris, as well as festival appearances at Edinburgh International Festival, Aldeburgh Festival, Verbier Festival, Heidelberger Frühling Festival and Rheingau Music Festival. Building on their success as winners of the prestigious quadrennial Merito String Quartet Award at the Konzerthaus in Vienna, they have been named ECHO Rising Stars for the 2027/28 season, nominated by the Gulbenkian Foundation, Barbican Centre, Musikverein Wien, and Kölner Philharmonie.

Following their selection as Borletti-Buitoni Trust Artists, the 2026/27 season will see more debut performances at halls including Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Vienna Konzerthaus, Flagey Brussels, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Liederhalle Stuttgart, Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival, Festspiele Mecklenburg Vorpommern and Filarmonica di Trento among others. Over the season the quartet performs throughout the UK, including multiple projects at Wigmore Hall, their debut at Manchester Chamber Concerts Society and a return tour to Scotland as well as their inaugural year as Associate Artists with Music at Paxton, curating a wide variety of repertoire.

The Quartet are prolific prize winners and have received numerous awards including the 2026 Merito String Quartet Award, First Prize in the Royal Overseas League Chamber Music Competition, First Prize in the Cavatina Chamber Music Competition, The RPS Henderson Chamber Ensemble Award, First Prize in the International Triomphe de l’Art Competition in Belgium, The Kirckman Society Award, Audience Prize at the Schiermonnikoog Festival and Special Prizes of the Shostakovich Association in Paris and Peermusic in Hamburg.

In addition to their love for the canon string quartet repertoire, Fibonaccis are becoming increasingly renowned for their own original arrangements of non classical repertoire. Their wider repertoire of sets and encores has expanded to include jazz, musical theatre, heavy metal and beyond. The quartet also regularly collaborate with contemporary composers including Kaija Saariaho, Helen Grime, Gérard Pesson, and YCAT Composer Fellow 2025/26 Fergus Hall. In summer 2027 they will debut a new clarinet quintet work by Michael Zev Gordon alongside clarinettist Rob Plane.

Alongside their busy performing schedule, the quartet teach as Frost Trust Quartet in Residence at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Following their selection to the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) roster in 2024, they were appointed as Grand Résident ensemble at ProQuartet in Paris for seasons 2025-2027 and Nina Drucker Fellows at the Royal Academy of Music, London. Originally formed at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, they were Resident Ensemble at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofia in Madrid with Günter Pichler and at the Dutch String Quartet Academy in Amsterdam.

The quartet is generously supported by the Borletti-Buitoni Trust, the Merito String Instrument Trust, the Hattori Foundation, the Cosman Keller Trust, and the Albert and Eugenie Frost Trust.
