About this Event
In this workshop, participants will create a felt appliqué creation. Using flat felt, cutting and stitching their pieces together, the finished composition will be a soft and an unique reflection of the person who made it.
Participants will be asked to consider what brings them joy? Is it nature, fruit, smiling faces, flowers or perhaps something else? Utilizing the softness and versatility of felt, each piece will represent the joy of the individual, and show that the world may be hardened but we all have a soft spot on the inside.

ABOUT FARAH
Farah (she/her) has taught felt applique to audiences from ages 8+ on a drop-in basis at the Textile Museum of Canada, and for the City of Oshawa. She regularly teaches families and youth arts and crafts at her current job and has also taught formal art classes. Passionate for teaching, learning and creating, her work, she often switches mediums and subject matters from embroidery to painting, pyrography to sculpture and more. Her artwork reflects a vibrancy and passion for sharing art through teaching, and community involvement. Her artworks show that anyone can be an artist by creating what they like and enjoy. In this, they promote using art to boost mental health, utilize down-time to relax and rest, and focus on the little joys of life amongst the typical chaos of the day-to-day.
