Agenda
🕑: 01:00 PM - 02:30 PM
Fascia in Motion
Host: May Kesler, MTH, PT
Info: 1-2:15 pm. Fascia is a 3 dimensional spider web like matrix of collagen within us, and moves in principles of Biotensegrity. It surrounds and infiltrates every cell in our body. This is a paradigm shift in what we have been taught about our anatomy, and how it moves. Discover how your body moves as an interconnected whole, what creates beautiful movement, what can injure it, and how to heal, recover, and keep your fascia flowing. This will be interactive, experiential, so dress to move. Particularly important for bodyworkers, dance teachers, dancers, movement teachers, and those who are seeking ways to move more freely and easily.
🕑: 02:30 PM - 03:30 PM
Fascia Based Choreography: Moving Through Life from the Authentic Body
Host: Anne Lloyd Willett
Info: 2:15-3:30pm. 1. Describe fascia as a continuous, adaptive, load bearing system influencing movement, coordination, and perception.
2. Identify personal movement patterns and recognize how training, habit, and narrative shape functional choices.
3. Apply fascia-based movement principles to generate authentic movement from internal sensing rather than external technique.
4. Observe movement in others with increased nuance, identifying compensation, patterning, and authentic initiation.
5. Integrate embodied awareness into movement assessment and therapeutic decision making.
🕑: 03:30 PM - 04:30 PM
Somatic SMR for Dancers: Understanding Your Body Beyond Stretching
Host: Laura Bergmann, Phd
Info: 330pm-445pmThis class introduces dancers to the role of fascia in movement, stability, and performance. You’ll learn the difference between muscles that feel “tight” versus those that are actually “taut” and overworking, and why more stretching isn’t always the answer. Through guided somatic self-myofascial release and targeted activation, dancers will learn how to create true support, improve control, and move with greater ease and efficiency.
